Cynthia TVGuide Article [4:00 PM ET]

In this weeks TVGUIDE, there is a mention about Cynthia and her appearance on the comedy series "Less Than Perfect" that airs later his month.

PRESTON ON PRIMETIME

In her upcoming guest appearance on Less Than Perfect, Cynthia Preston (Faith, GH) lets a few skeletons out of TV executive Will Butler's (played by Another World vet Eric Roberts) corner suite. "He gives some videotapes to his assistant Claude to destroy, making a comment that he needed money when he was young," Preston explains. "Of course, she can't not watch them." The tapes are far from the X-rated isles in the back of a video store, but in Will's mind they're an even worse fate. "It's not porn at all; it's a TV show — a Canadian soap opera," Preston exclaims. Stepping straight back into the '70s, Preston put on her native Canadian accent to bring a little authenticity to the scene. "I have a poofy, Farrah Fawcett hairdo and I'm wearing a suede miniskirt saying things like, 'You won't tell my husband aboot me'," she recites with a twang. "It was just a blast." Preston's Less Than Perfect episode airs later this month.

"The Event" to premiere at Sundance [12:10 AM ET]

Director Thom Fitzgerald's (director of The Hanging Garden) latest film "The Event" which Cynthia worked on last year, will be making its debut at the Sundance Film Festival on January 19th. According to the Sundance Film Festival web site the first 3 out of 4 scheduled showings have been sold out! The movie stars Brent Carver, Olympia Dukakis, Jane Leeves, Don McKellar, Sarah Polley, Parker Posey and of course Cynthia Preston. Cynthia was very excited to be a part of this wonderful film! The script was so good that the cast and crew including Cynthia were willing to do the movie for discount rates! Cynthia even turned down a guest spot on the hit drama CSI: Crime Scene Investigation in order to work on the film and actually went so far as to get most of her hair cut off and dyed it platinum with pink streaks just for her role! Here is a some information about the film that was taken from the Sundance site...The terrific ensemble cast of indie veterans in The Event work in sync to maximize the impact of this highly moving film. Director Thom Fitzgerald is firmly at the helm, guiding an intricate, interwoven patchwork of relationships, friendships, and family ties that unfolds with sharp insight and dramatic flair. The Event is driven both emotionally and politically by two opposing truths. Truth No. 1: Matt wants to die; his AIDS cocktail no longer works, his health is failing fast, and he wants to leave this earth with his friends and family around him. Truth No. 2: Choosing to die is illegal; Nick, a district attorney investigating the most recent series of unexplained deaths in the Chelsea district of Manhattan, is pushing hard to get to the bottom of the apparent suicides. As with Nick's investigation, The Event raises as many questions as it answers. What is the responsibility of those left behind when a terminally ill person takes his or her own life? What good are laws and bureaucracy that don't serve us? Fitzgerald's response is to lay it bare and let all the voices be heard, leaving us to find it in the anger and discover it in the tears. The Event works on all levels, but none greater than the depth of emotion this beautifully rendered piece evokes about a man and the people who love him enough to help him die.

Be sure and check out the Articles page for some interesting articles about the film.
